Nose Thread Lift, Filler or Rhinoplasty? Choosing the Right Option
Many visitors come to our Hongdae clinic wanting a slightly higher bridge or a sharper tip, and they are not sure whether they need threads, filler or surgery. Each option has a place. The right one depends on what you want to change, how long you want it to last, and how much downtime you can take on your trip.
1. Nose filler: quick, adjustable, temporary
Hyaluronic acid filler can raise a low bridge, smooth a small bump, or improve the profile in about 15 minutes, with little downtime. It is a good way to see what a higher nose would look like on you. Results are temporary and gradually fade, and filler cannot make a nose smaller or narrower. Our dermal filler page explains which products we use.
2. Nose thread lift: more definition for the tip
Nose thread lifting places dissolvable threads to support the bridge and slightly lift and define the tip. It is often combined with filler. Downtime is short, and the result is subtle and temporary. It suits people who want a bit more definition without surgery.
3. When surgery is the more honest choice
Non-surgical options add volume and support. They do not remove anything. If your goals include any of the following, injections and threads will not get you there:
- Reducing a large hump
- Narrowing a wide bridge or a wide base of the nose
- Straightening a crooked nose
- Making a round, bulbous tip noticeably smaller
- Improving breathing
For these, we tell patients honestly that surgery is the better route. Repeated filler in the nose also has limits and risks, and it is better not to keep chasing results with it. If you want to look into a permanent change, this overview of rhinoplasty in Gangnam explains how a structure-first approach is planned for international patients, including the usual 7–10 day stay.
4. Quick comparison
- Filler: about 15 minutes, minimal downtime, temporary, adds volume only.
- Thread lift: about 30 minutes, a few days of mild swelling, temporary, adds support and definition.
- Rhinoplasty: surgery, around a week before the splint comes off, permanent, can reduce, reshape and straighten.
Conclusion
Start with what you want to change, not with the treatment. If the goal is a little more height or definition, filler or threads are good, low-commitment options. If you want to reshape the nose itself, surgery is the honest answer. Come and see us in Hongdae for a consultation and we will tell you which category you fall into.
